Kidnapped 19-year old KSU student Found naked in Ilorin

A 19-year-old English Education undergraduate of Kogi state University identified as Fauziyah Muhammed, was reportedly kidnapped in Ayangba, Kogi State, and later found wandering in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

The incident, which occurred on Sunday morning, has raised concerns about growing insecurity and the use of hypnotic tactics in criminal activities.

According to reports, Fauziyah disappeared between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sunday after an alleged abduction. She was discovered the following morning by residents of the Ajegunle-Isale community along Egbejila Road in Ilorin. The residents found her disoriented and unclothed, prompting them to provide her with clothing and notify local authorities.

Dr. Umar Muhammed, the state commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), addressed journalists on the matter, revealing that Fauziyah’s behavior and speech suggested she had endured a traumatic experience while in captivity.

He explained that NSCDC personnel were alerted to her condition by the community and immediately took custody of her to ensure her safety and provide initial care.

While recounting her ordeal, Fauziyah stated that she could not remember how she ended up in Kwara State. She recalled only that she dropped a book and, as she bent to retrieve it, she lost consciousness.

Her fragmented recollection has heightened suspicions that her captors may have used hypnosis or other methods to disorient her.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State was briefed on the case and offered assistance, promising resources to facilitate her return to Kogi State.

Efforts are underway to reunite her with her family, and arrangements have been made to release her to Mallam Salihu Aliu, an uncle delegated by her family.

The discovery of Fauziyah in such a vulnerable state has sparked widespread discussions about the rising threat of kidnapping and the need for greater vigilance, particularly in communities prone to such crimes.

Advocacy groups and security agencies have reiterated calls for heightened public awareness and improved security measures to curb these incidents.

As investigations continue, the authorities remain committed to uncovering the full details of the case and ensuring that Fauziyah receives the care and support she needs to recover from the ordeal.

The incident serves as a stark reminder of the pressing need for collective efforts to combat insecurity and protect vulnerable individuals in society.
