HICC lead Pastor Bolaji Idowu arrested over alleged N1.5 billion fraud, other allegations

Bolaji Idowu, Lead Pastor of the Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC) who is popularly known for the “Next-Level Prayer Conference,” has been arrested and is under investigation for alleged real estate fraud and money laundering.

He is currently being held in the custody of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja and will spend the night in a police cell as part of the probe into an alleged N1.5 billion fraud.

Police operatives from the FCID had earlier detained Pastor Idowu in connection with the allegations. According to police sources, the case originated from a complaint involving one of his pastors, who reportedly defrauded several people through a real estate scheme.

Investigators traced substantial sums of money, amounting to billions of naira, first to the church’s account and later to Pastor Idowu’s personal account.

Pastor Idowu, who established Harvesters International Christian Center in December 2003, has seen the church grow significantly, with branches in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The church reportedly attracts over 70,000 worshippers both online and onsite.

The “Next Level Prayers” platform, led by Pastor Idowu, encourages participants to cultivate a strong prayer life through both physical and online sessions. The pastor’s arrest marks a significant development as authorities continue to investigate the alleged financial improprieties linked to his ministry.
