Edo Governor Offers automatic Employment to Late NLC Chairman’s Daughter

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has granted automatic employment to the daughter of the late Anthony Kaduna Ebiogbodin, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in Edo State, who recently passed away under tragic circumstances.

Ebiogbodin reportedly slumped and died during a scuffle with police officers in Benin City.

While visiting the widow and family members of the deceased on Saturday, Governor Okpebholo expressed deep sorrow over the loss and pledged his administration’s support to the bereaved family.

The governor criticized the behavior of the police officers involved, describing the death as avoidable. He assured the family that he would engage with the State Police Commissioner, Umoru Ozigi, to address concerns about the conduct of officers to ensure public safety in Edo State.

“It is painful that we have lost a soul in this manner,” the governor stated. “I will speak to the police about their conduct to ensure they behave appropriately and uphold professionalism.”

Reflecting on the circumstances surrounding the incident, Okpebholo lamented the loss, saying, “He is gone. It is painful, but that is life. No man knows who is next.”

The gesture of offering employment to Ebiogbodin’s daughter underscores the governor’s commitment to providing immediate support to the grieving family while addressing broader concerns about law enforcement in the state.
