The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled two separate kidnapping attempts in Jibia and Faskari Local Government Areas, rescuing 20 victims in the process.
Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, disclosed this during a press briefing on Sunday. He explained that the incidents occurred on December 7, 2024, in quick succession.
In the first incident, at about 7:00 p.m., armed bandits attacked a vehicle at Kwanar Makera along the Katsina–Magamar Jibia road in Jibia LGA. Acting on a tip-off, operatives from the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters intervened, engaging the bandits in a gunfight. While some of the attackers fled with gunshot wounds, all ten occupants of the targeted vehicle were safely rescued.
Later the same evening, at about 8:30 p.m., suspected bandits ambushed another vehicle at Marabar Bangori along the Funtua–Gusau road in Faskari LGA. The operatives’ swift response forced the attackers to abandon their plan and flee. Among the passengers rescued, one individual who sustained serious injuries was promptly hospitalized.
Commending the operatives for their bravery, Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, urged them to maintain their vigilance in combating crime and ensuring public safety across the state.
