Tinubu’s Cabal More Dangerous and Sophisticated – Dalung

Former Minister of Youths and Sports, Solomon Dalung, has described the cabal surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s administration as more dangerous and sophisticated than the one that existed during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dalung made this revelation during an appearance on Mic On, a podcast hosted by Seun Okinbaloye. According to him, the group within Tinubu’s government is highly experienced, having been entrenched in the corridors of power for a long time, which makes them far more formidable than previous cabals.

“Tinubu’s cabal is a more sophisticated group of people who have been in power for a long time. They know power, they are informed, and so they are more dangerous than any other cabal I have ever known or seen,” Dalung stated.

He further alleged that this cabal acts as gatekeepers, shielding President Tinubu from the realities on the ground and limiting the flow of critical information to him. Dalung argued that their actions stifle governance and isolate the president from the country’s pressing challenges.

“They are the gatekeepers of the president. They are found very close within the circumference of power, and usually, they don’t allow governance to flow. They shield the president from the obvious reality and don’t allow any information to reach him,” he said.

Drawing a parallel to Buhari’s administration, Dalung recounted an incident where an official attempting to brief Buhari on the state of the nation was stopped by aides concerned about the president’s reaction. “One of the officers asked, ‘What will you be telling the president?’ When the man hesitated, they told him, ‘We can’t allow you to tell the president that. What if he collapses?’ So the man was prevented from briefing the president,” he explained.

Dalung’s comments highlight growing concerns about power dynamics and influence within Tinubu’s administration. His claims suggest that the inner circle’s control could potentially impact governance and the president’s awareness of Nigeria’s current challenges.
