Lawyer Declared Wanted Over Allegations Against GTBank CEO

The Nigeria Police Force has declared lawyer and civil rights activist Edward Ejembi Omaga wanted following allegations he made against Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) and its Chief Executive Officer, Segun Agbaje. Omaga had published claims of misconduct within GTB and called for an investigation into the activities of the CEO.

In response, the police sent an invitation letter dated October 10, 2024, requesting Omaga’s appearance for questioning. The letter stated that the police were investigating allegations of criminal defamation, cyberbullying, economic sabotage, and conduct likely to breach the peace.

Another letter, dated October 25, 2024, reminded Omaga that his failure to respond was delaying the investigation. The police reiterated their demand for him to report to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja on October 29, 2024, for an interview with the Commissioner of Police.
