Military Declares Notorious Bandit Leader Bello Turji a ‘Dead Man Walking’

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has labeled notorious bandit leader Bello Turji as “a dead man walking,” vowing to neutralize him and other terrorist leaders in the country.

This warning follows Turji’s threats to attack communities in Zamfara State if his detained brother and associates are not released.

Speaking at a press briefing, Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, reiterated the military’s commitment to eliminating all terrorists. He disclosed that over 1,000 terrorist leaders and their replacements have been neutralized in military operations this year alone.

“From January to December 31, 2024, over 1,000 terrorist leaders and commanders, along with their replacements, have been eliminated in our operations,” Buba stated.

He assured that Turji and others like him would face the same fate, emphasizing the military’s unwavering resolve.

“Indeed, Bello Turji is merely a dead man walking. It would be insulting to engage in verbal exchanges with a terrorist. Before him, there were others who made similar threats, but today, they have been taken out. We will do the same with other terrorist leaders,” he said.

Buba also highlighted the military’s success on the battlefield, adding, “We have buried many of them because that is their fate. The remaining ones, including Bello Turji, are nothing but dead men walking.”

The military’s declaration underscores its determination to restore peace and security across the country.
