Ademola Adeyemi-Bero has been appointed Nigeria’s Governor for the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and will serve as the Chairman of the OPEC Board of Governors in 2025.

The confirmation of his appointment came during the 189th meeting of the OPEC Conference, as announced by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri. In a statement issued through his media aide, Nneamaka Okafor, Lokpobiri described Adeyemi-Bero’s elevation as a testament to Nigeria’s significant contributions to the global oil and energy sectors.

The minister highlighted that the appointment provides a strategic platform for Nigeria to advocate for balanced energy policies that benefit oil producers and consumers while supporting global economic stability.

Before assuming his role as OPEC Board Chairman, Adeyemi-Bero was officially confirmed as Nigeria’s OPEC Governor for the year 2025.
