Beyoncé Crowned Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century – Billboard

Billboard has named Beyoncé as the greatest pop star of the 21st century, recognizing her as the artist who has most defined pop stardom over the past 25 years. The accolade celebrates her unparalleled influence, impact, and evolution in the music industry.

“Beyoncé tops our staff-chosen editorial list based on her full 25 years of influence, impact, and evolution,” Billboard’s Andrew Unterberger stated, emphasizing her remarkable career trajectory and dedication to artistic excellence.

The publication highlighted Beyoncé’s status as a record-setting performer and creator, noting her commitment to innovation and her role as the benchmark for pop stardom. With a record-breaking 32 Grammy Awards to her name, Beyoncé has cemented her legacy as the most Grammy-decorated artist in history. Following 11 nominations for her 2024 album Cowboy Carter, she is poised to add even more accolades to her collection at the upcoming Grammy Awards in January.

Beyoncé’s success on the Billboard charts further solidifies her iconic status. She boasts nine No. 1 songs and 24 top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Eight of her solo albums have reached the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, beginning with her debut album, Dangerously In Love, in 2003. Including her time with Destiny’s Child, 11 of her albums have landed in the Billboard top 10.

Since August, Billboard has been unveiling its list of the top 25 pop artists of the past quarter-century, ranking those who have most shaped and exemplified pop greatness since the turn of the millennium.

Taylor Swift was announced as the No. 2 artist on the list, followed by Rihanna in the third spot. Other artists in the top 10 include Adele, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, and Drake.

Katy Perry claimed the 25th position, with notable names such as Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Eminem, Usher, and others rounding out the rankings.
