Breaking: Dele Farotimi Arraigned Over alleged Defamation Afe Babalola

Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has been arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State on charges of defamation.

Farotimi, who was arrested in Lagos on Tuesday by operatives of the Ekiti State Police Command, arrived at the court at approximately 10:25 a.m. on Wednesday.

The lawyer is facing a 16-count charge related to the alleged defamation of prominent legal icon and founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola (SAN).

The accusations stem from claims made in Farotimi’s recent book, Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System, in which he is alleged to have maligned and defamed Afe Babalola’s character.

Details of the court proceedings and further developments are expected soon.
