Breaking:Governor Abiodun Presents N1.055 Trillion budget for 2025 to Assembly 

Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has presented a N1.055 trillion appropriation bill for 2025 to the State House of Assembly, seeking approval for what he described as the “Budget of Hope and Prosperity.”

The proposal includes N600.98 billion allocated for capital expenditure and N453.56 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Breaking down the budget, the governor revealed personnel costs amount to N120.14 billion, public debt charges N75.07 billion, and overhead costs N219.86 billion. Projected revenue sources include N120.97 billion from the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) and N193.85 billion from other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), totaling N314.82 billion. Statutory allocations from the Federal Government, including FAAC and VAT, are estimated at N228.06 billion.

Governor Abiodun highlighted key allocations, with infrastructure receiving 27% of the budget (N284.456 billion), education 17% (N167.835 billion), and health 13% (N134.538 billion). Housing and community development are allocated 6% (N66.382 billion), agriculture and industry 6% (N65.387 billion), and recreation, culture, and religion 2% (N25.274 billion).

The governor also outlined major projects for 2025, including the renovation of general and state hospitals, procurement of laboratory and medical equipment, and the construction of several metro rail lines, such as the Redline Metro Rail Extension (Agbado-Kajola), the Blueline Metro Rail (Okokomaiko-Agbara/Lusada), and the Purpleline Metro Rail (Mowe-Iperu).

Governor Abiodun emphasized that the budget aims to balance fiscal responsibility with improved public service delivery, addressing critical issues like unemployment and poverty while fostering economic and social progress. He described the budget as a roadmap for unity, hope, and public trust in the government’s ability to manage resources effectively.

Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludaisi Elemide, assured the governor of the legislature’s commitment to ensuring the successful passage of the budget. He reiterated the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the executive and judiciary for the state’s progress.
