Breaking:Arewa Consultative Reinstate Suspended Chairman Mamman Osuman

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has reinstated its suspended National Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, following a resolution of internal disagreements.

Osuman was initially suspended after declaring that the North would not support President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections, a statement seen as controversial and contrary to the Forum’s non-partisan principles.

The Secretary-General of the ACF, Malam Murtala Aliyu, announced the recall in a statement on Wednesday. He explained that the Forum’s Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee, led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, mediated the issue and brought it to a peaceful resolution.

According to Aliyu, the committee engaged key stakeholders, including members of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Council, to address the matter in what he described as a “family discussion.” He stated that the suspension was lifted in the interest of unity and the well-being of the northern region.

Osuman’s earlier comments regarding Tinubu’s re-election bid had drawn criticism from some members of the Forum, who accused him of making unauthorised and partisan statements.

A joint statement by ACF Secretary-General Aliyu and BoT Chairman Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu condemned the remarks, emphasizing that they did not reflect the Forum’s stance.

With the reinstatement, the ACF aims to move forward united, focusing on its core mission of promoting the interests and welfare of the northern region.
