Delta PDP condemn allege invasion of secretariat, blame Ibori daughter

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has condemned the alleged invasion of its secretariat in Oghara, Ethiope-West Local Government Area, by suspected thugs said to be loyal to Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Governor James Ibori.

Ibori-Suenu, who recently defected from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC), is accused of orchestrating the takeover of the building and repainting it with APC colors.

In a statement on Sunday, Dr. Ebenezer Okorodudu, the Delta State PDP Publicity Secretary, described the act as “provocative and disgraceful.”

“The attention of the Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has been drawn to the unfortunate and unlawful invasion of its party secretariat in Oghara on Thursday by thugs believed to be acting on the orders of Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu of the APC,” the statement read.

“The PDP views this provocative action as part of a desperate attempt by Hon. Ibori-Suenu to appropriate PDP structures for the benefit of her new party. Her poorly planned defection to the APC appears driven by personal ambition rather than genuine political ideology.”

The statement criticized Ibori-Suenu for “resorting to hijacking the PDP’s established infrastructure” instead of building her own political identity.

“This act is an affront to democracy and political decency. The PDP will not tolerate attempts to undermine its assets and reputation by opportunists who prioritize self-interest over public service.”

While reaffirming its commitment to peace and the rule of law, the PDP urged its members to remain calm and law-abiding in the face of provocation.

“We implore our members to avoid any violent response to this act. Instead, we will pursue appropriate legal remedies,” Okorodudu said.

The PDP also called on Ibori-Suenu and her APC collaborators to desist from relying on the PDP’s legacy to gain political relevance.

“If they truly believe in the APC’s vision, they should build their own structures instead of hijacking the PDP’s credibility. Delta State is a peaceful and enlightened society, and we will not allow political mischief to destabilize it,” the statement added.

Dr. Okorodudu called on security agencies to investigate the incident, identify those responsible, and ensure justice is served. He emphasized the PDP’s commitment to democracy, justice, and good governance, urging all party faithful to uphold these values.
