Ebonyi state government approves privatisation of radio, TV media outfits

The Ebonyi State government has approved the privatisation of the state-owned Radio and Television Stations, EBBC, into an independent entity. This decision was announced by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor, following the state executive council meeting on Monday.

He revealed that the Corporation will be restructured as a Public Liability Company and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

According to the commissioner, the reform aims to enhance the productivity of the Corporation and increase economic returns to the state. The same changes will also apply to the Ebonyi State Newspapers and Publishing Corporation, Nigerian Patriot.

Okpor emphasized that this move is not intended to result in job losses for staff members. Instead, it is designed to reposition the establishments to become fully independent, business-oriented, and self-sustaining.
