Governor Adeleke Presents Staff of Office to New Owa Obokun of Ijesaland Amid ProtestsO – sun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on Sunday officially presented the staff of office to Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland.

The ceremony took place despite objections from some royal families within the Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House, who opposed Oba Haastrup’s selection.

The Ofokutu and Arimoro royal families had earlier criticized the appointment, accusing the state government of influencing the process in favor of Haastrup. In separate statements on Sunday, the families threatened to challenge the decision in court.

Oba Haastrup’s appointment was approved by Governor Adeleke on Friday evening after he was elected by the kingmakers earlier the same day. During the presentation ceremony, Adeleke congratulated the new monarch and urged him to unite the people of Ijesaland for the growth of the region and the state.
