Governor Nwifuru suspends Commissioners over allegations of gross misconduct

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has suspended the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Moses Ekuma, and the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Francis Ori, over allegations of gross misconduct and dereliction of duty.

The announcement was made on Monday, November 25, 2024, and confirmed in a statement by the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Jude Okpor.

While specific details of the suspensions were not provided, they are believed to be linked to recent issues, including the alleged theft of government property involving health ministry officials and the underperformance of the Housing and Urban Development commissioner.

Governor Nwifuru had personally visited the health ministry premises on Saturday night, where six civil servants we suspected of diverting government materials were arrested.

The governor has reiterated his commitment to ensuring accountability and has vowed to take decisive action against those found guilty of misconduct.
