At least five individuals were reportedly abducted on Saturday by gunmen at Obbo-Ayegunle in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The victims were returning to their Odo-Owa base after attending a marriage ceremony in Ope, a neighboring town in Kogi State, when they were ambushed around 4 p.m. Among the abductees are Oloye Oyewole Abolarin, the head of hunters in Odo-Owa, his wife Funmilayo Abolarin, Tunde Oladipo and his wife, and a woman identified as Bose, all residents of Agbele Igbede compound in Odo-Owa.
The kidnappers have contacted the families, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. In response, family members and the community have begun raising funds to meet the demand while pleading with Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and security agencies for assistance in rescuing the victims.
Reports also suggest another abduction incident may have occurred on Monday along the Omu-Aran highway, though details remain unconfirmed.
Efforts to reach DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, were unsuccessful at the time of this report, as calls and messages to her remained unanswered.
