Gunmen Abduct Over 50 Women, Children in Zamfara Village Attack

Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Kakin Dawa, a village in Gidan Goga District, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, abducting over 50 women and children in the early hours of Sunday.

Sources from the community revealed that the heavily armed assailants invaded the village at about 1:30 a.m., moving from house to house in a coordinated operation.

A resident, who spoke anonymously, described the chaos that ensued as villagers fled for their lives. “The armed bandits had been targeting our village for some time. Everyone ran when they stormed in. Later, we realized more than 50 of our women were taken,” he recounted.

The abducted individuals are said to include both young girls and married women.

The community member called on the federal and Zamfara State governments to urgently deploy additional military and security forces to the area to confront the escalating threat posed by the bandits.

Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the Zamfara State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, for comments were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.
