He had my pictures in all his rooms when I built that mansion for him – Wike replies Odili Amid Political Rift
Former Rivers State governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that he personally built a mansion for his predecessor, Peter Odili, who is now a political rival.
Wike made this statement on Sunday during a Special Thanksgiving Service organized by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Chike Amaewhule, in Port Harcourt.
Responding to recent comments by Odili, who accused him of trying to take control of Rivers State, Wike revealed that during his tenure as governor, he contracted Julius Berger to construct a mansion for Odili. According to him, Odili initially praised the gesture, showing the house to visitors and commending Wike for his support.
Wike also criticized Odili for comparing the achievements of the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to past administrations. He questioned Odili’s statement that Fubara, who has been in office for less than a year, had already outperformed previous governors, including Odili himself. Wike described such remarks as unbecoming of an elder statesman.
He further claimed that while he was governor, Odili’s house was filled with his pictures, displayed in every room, including the kitchen and bathroom. However, he noted that all the pictures have since been removed, suggesting a shift in their relationship.
