Helen Ukpabio, the President and Founder of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, has issued a ₦200 billion legal suit against Nigerian singer Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian, for defamation.
Ukpabio claims that the singer made statements that have damaged her reputation, though specific details of the alleged defamation remain undisclosed. The case has gained attention due to the prominent figures involved, but Bloody Civilian and her representatives have yet to respond publicly.
The dispute began on November 22, 2024, when a social media user, #OneJoblessBoy, posted a photo of Helen Ukpabio on X (formerly Twitter) to mark her 60th birthday. The post, viewed over 4.6 million times, prompted Bloody Civilian to retweet it with the comment, “She literally made people burn their children alive.” Imaobong Ukpabio, the pastor’s daughter, using the handle #ima_Elijah, warned Bloody Civilian to delete the tweet within five hours, threatening legal action if the post remained.
In a letter dated November 25, 2024, and retweeted by Bloody Civilian on November 23, 2025, Ukpabio’s legal representatives, Victor Ukutt & Co., demanded a public apology and compensation. The letter, titled “Demand for Public Apology and Compensation for the Libel of Imaobong Elijah Ukpabio and Apostle Helen Ukpabio,” referred to the statements as “reckless, satanic, and libellous.” It cited additional claims made by Bloody Civilian, including allegations that Ukpabio had been banned from the UK for her actions, and accused the singer of portraying the pastor as a promoter of child abuse and violence.
The letter also stated that police and DSS investigations had dismissed the allegations as “grossly false,” and accused the posts of painting Ukpabio as unfit for society. The lawyers emphasized that the statements have caused significant harm to their client’s reputation and demanded monetary compensation alongside a public retraction.
This development has sparked widespread public interest, though Bloody Civilian has not issued any official statement in response to the claims.
