The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has blacklisted six Computer-Based Test (CBT) officials for their involvement in alleged registration malpractices during the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration.

JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this on Monday while overseeing the registration process at various CBT centers in Ilorin, Kwara State. He explained that the officials had been caught for exam malpractice and were banned for life from participating in any future JAMB exams. Oloyede also stated that their details had been recorded, and they would be monitored, even if they later held prestigious positions, such as university professors or vice chancellors.

Additionally, Oloyede mentioned that a senior university official was currently facing prosecution for an admission-related offense, while four other individuals were under investigation and added to JAMB’s watch list. Earlier in the registration process, JAMB had also warned 10 institutions caught conducting late-night registrations, stressing that CBT centers should not keep candidates’ registration templates.

As of Monday afternoon, JAMB had registered 420,674 candidates for the 2025/2026 UTME, with 32,435 candidates registering that day alone. The total number of candidates for the mock exams stood at 124,632, and 331 candidates had signed up for trial testing. Oloyede emphasized that JAMB’s goal was to register two million candidates for this year’s UTME.

Oloyede also criticized parents who he said were pushing their underage children to register for the exams as a way to boast about their academic achievements. He revealed that, as of Monday, 4,997 underage candidates had registered, with the number expected to surpass 5,000 by the end of the day. These underage candidates are required to sign an indemnity form and commit to meeting the academic standards of the examination.

The registrar visited several CBT centers, including Kwara State College of Education, Al-Hikmah University, Socrates College, and the University of Ilorin CBT center. He expressed satisfaction with the registration process and commended the efforts of JAMB staff, security agencies, and CBT center operators for ensuring the smooth progress of the exercise.
