Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has presented a proposed budget of N790 billion for 2025, emphasizing strategic investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and agriculture.
Addressing the Kaduna State House of Assembly on Monday, the governor detailed a careful approach to resource allocation in light of prevailing financial constraints.
The budget outlines N553 billion for capital expenditure and N237 billion for recurrent expenditure, with education taking a significant share of N206.6 billion, representing 26.14% of the total.
Governor Sani explained that the education allocation would fund the construction of new schools, rehabilitation of existing ones, teacher recruitment, capacity development, and provision of learning materials.
Healthcare is allocated N127 billion (16.07%), aimed at upgrading medical facilities, acquiring modern equipment, and expanding mobile healthcare services to underserved areas. Infrastructure projects are earmarked for N106 billion (13.14%), focusing on road construction, rural electrification, and improving water supply systems across the state.
The governor also highlighted plans to boost agriculture with a N74 billion allocation (9.36%), supporting smallholder farmers, promoting agro-processing, and implementing irrigation projects.
Security receives N11.2 billion to enhance state security operations and community policing initiatives, while N9.8 billion (1.24%) is set aside for social welfare programs to support vulnerable populations.
Governor Sani expressed optimism that the proposed budget would drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life for residents of Kaduna State.
