Kano 2023 Hajj Pilgrims receive N375 Million refund

The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced plans to refund N375,397,680 to pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2023 Hajj.

The Director General of the board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, disclosed this during a management meeting in Kano. He explained that the refund was compensation from Saudi Arabian authorities, facilitated through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), for the power outage experienced at Mina during the pilgrimage.

According to Alhaji Danbappa, 6,146 Kano State pilgrims were affected, with each set to receive N61,080.

Sulaiman A. Dederi, the board’s Public Relations Officer, assured that the refund process would be transparent and accountable. He stated that all payments would be made directly to the pilgrims’ bank accounts to prevent any discrepancies.

“The board remains committed to ensuring the welfare of pilgrims and maintaining high service standards,” Dederi said.

Alhaji Danbappa also urged Local Government Hajj Center Officers to intensify efforts in promoting the sale of Hajj seats for the upcoming pilgrimage. Expressing concern over slow progress in seat sales, he called for collaborative measures to ensure smoother operations and improved services for prospective pilgrims.
