The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four individuals accused of supplying military and police uniforms to bandits and other terrorist groups operating in the state.
The Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed the arrests in a statement on Tuesday, explaining that one of the suspects was apprehended on November 19 during a routine patrol along the Yantumaki-Kankara highway in Danmusa Local Government Area. The suspect was found with two pairs of military uniforms hidden in a black polythene bag.
Following initial investigations, three additional suspects were arrested in connection with the crime. They include Lawal Ahmad, 29, and Isma’il Dalhatu, 24, both residents of Basawa Quarters in Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna State, as well as Shafi’u Adamu, 28, from Danjaba Village in Soba Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The police recovered 14 pairs of military uniforms and one police uniform from the suspects, believed to be intended for delivery to bandits for use in criminal operations across Katsina State.
ASP Aliyu confirmed that the suspects confessed to the crime during interrogation and will face charges in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commissioner of Police Aliyu Abubakar-Musa commended the operatives for their professionalism and diligence in securing the arrests. He urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support the fight against banditry and terrorism in the state.
