Prince Abdulkadir Mahe, the Chief of Staff to the Kwara State Governor, was laid to rest on Saturday evening, mere hours after his passing. The funeral prayer, held at his residence in Ilorin, drew a large crowd of mourners, including Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State and Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, along with senior government officials, clerics, community leaders, and family members.
Among the dignitaries present were Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Yakubu Salihu Danladi, the Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Shari’a Court of Appeal Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen, and House of Representatives member Ahmed Yinka Aluko.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, led the Janazah prayer, offering heartfelt prayers for Allah to grant Mahe al-Jannah Firdaus. Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, speaking to reporters, described the loss as profound, noting Mahe’s role as a stabilizing force in the administration. “This is a great loss. He was a pillar of support and a stabilizing factor in our administration. We will truly miss him. May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” he said.
Governor Ododo also paid tribute to Mahe, highlighting his peaceful nature and the void his passing leaves behind. “He was a peace-loving personality. The entire family and the state in general will miss him. There is nothing more to say because from Him we come, and unto Him we shall return. What we owe him now is prayer, and we will continue to pray for him,” he remarked.
Prince Abdulkadir Mahe, a septuagenarian, was appointed Chief of Staff on November 3, 2023, after a long and accomplished career in public service.
