The Lagos State Task Force has dismissed two of its officers, Fatai Yusuf and Hammed Garuba, after they were caught stealing during a recent raid.
The incident occurred during an operation at a hotel in Gowon Estate, an area known for harboring drug users and traffickers. According to the task force spokesperson, Mr. Abdulraheem Gbadeyan, the two officers were seen on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) stealing mobile phones from the scene, which led to their dismissal.
Gbadeyan explained that both officers were part of a paramilitary unit and were subjected to a thorough investigation by the agency’s disciplinary committee. After their guilt was confirmed, they were promptly fired and will face criminal charges for theft.
The chairman of the agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele, condemned the officers’ actions, reiterating the task force’s commitment to integrity and accountability. He also warned all personnel that any breach of ethical conduct would result in severe consequences.
Gbadeyan added that the task force remained guided by principles of discipline and justice, ensuring that any actions compromising the agency’s credibility or public trust would be swiftly addressed. In a related development, those arrested during the raid have already been arraigned in court. This incident underscores the task force’s resolve to maintain law and order in alignment with the Lagos State THEMES Plus agenda.
