The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has issued compensation cheques to tenants and property owners affected by the Quality Bus Corridor (QBC) project in the Ketu, Alapere, and Akanimodo areas.
This initiative, part of the QBC Package 1C project, spans 4.7 kilometers from Ketu to Akanimodo and aims to transform public transportation within the region and across Lagos State. Key elements of the project include constructing 10 laybys, upgrading six junctions, and modernizing the Mile 12 terminal.
The project is jointly funded by the Lagos State Government and the French Development Agency (AFD).
Speaking at the cheque presentation ceremony, Engr. Osa Konyeha, Technical Adviser for Corporate and Investment Planning at LAMATA, expressed gratitude to those affected for their cooperation.
He highlighted the long-term benefits of the project for all Lagos residents, emphasizing its role in enhancing the city’s public transportation infrastructure.
The event was attended by prominent stakeholders, including Engr. Oluwakemi Ochie and Olukayode Sallu from LAMATA’s Roads and Infrastructure department, Mrs. Ibironke Omorhirhi, Social Development Specialist at LAMATA, Engr. Babatunde Osho, Managing Director of Global Impact Environmental Consulting Limited, and Mr. Victor Aibange, General Manager of Multiple Development Services.
