A local security group known as Yan Sakai has successfully thwarted an attack by a gang of notorious bandits led by Bello Turji in the farming community of Fadamar Tara, Zamfara State.
The vigilante group engaged the bandits in a fire-for-fire operation, successfully defending the area.
According to a resident, Yakubu Ishiaku, the bandits had planned to terrorize the community but were met with strong resistance from the locals. He explained that Yan Sakai swiftly mobilized and confronted the attackers, preventing the raid.
Ishiaku further revealed that the area had long been under the control of the bandits until the formation of the Yan Sakai group, which has since restored a sense of security in the region. He noted that the group is always prepared to challenge the bandits and no longer relies on the military or other security forces for protection.
“We no longer depend on the military or security operatives for safety as we can defend ourselves perfectly now,” Ishiaku said, emphasizing the group’s growing confidence in confronting the bandits. Despite previous losses due to fear, the community now stands united in its resolve to fight back.
