Makinde, tourism minister, others to Grace Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Minister of Tourism Lola Ade-John, and members of the Organised Private Sector (OPS) are among the dignitaries expected to attend the maiden edition of the Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, set to begin on Thursday.

The event organizers have assured participants, both local and international, of robust security measures throughout the celebration.

Prince Williams Adeleye, Chairman of the Organising Committee, revealed in an exclusive interview that the carnival aims to attract both local and foreign investors to Ogbomoso and Oyo State at large.

“We have invested significant effort into making this one of the most memorable carnivals in Southwestern Nigeria. The event is rich in content, showcasing the unique cultural heritage of Ogbomoso. Our history, culture, and traditions are treasures that need preservation, and this carnival is a step towards achieving that,” he said.

Prince Adeleye lamented that many of Ogbomoso’s rich traditions were nearing extinction before the intervention of Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomosoland.

“The monarch’s visionary 25-year developmental plan has brought this dream to life. He recognizes that culture and tradition are valuable resources, akin to oil and gas, capable of driving economic growth. Showcasing our cultural heritage is key to attracting investments and boosting the city’s economy,” Adeleye explained.

On security, Adeleye assured attendees that comprehensive arrangements have been made. “We have mobilized all security agencies to ensure the safety of lives and property during and after the event,” he stated.

The Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival promises to be a landmark event, celebrating the community’s rich history and paving the way for future development.
