Military Airstrikes kills dozen of ISWAP Terrorists in Borno

The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has successfully carried out precision airstrikes against Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Malam Fatori area of Borno State, resulting in significant losses for the insurgent group.

The operation, which targeted ISWAP gatherings and logistics, led to the deaths of numerous militants and the destruction of their equipment.

According to Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, reconnaissance missions revealed a concentration of ISWAP fighters along with vehicles and motorcycles being used for logistics and movements around Malam Fatori.

In a coordinated effort, military aircraft were deployed with advanced surveillance and targeting systems to strike the identified locations.

“Reconnaissance missions identified a number of vehicles and motorcycles purportedly being utilized for militant movements and logistics support by the terrorists. In response, military aircraft engaged these assets with surgical precision,” the security publication noted.

The strikes destroyed several vehicles and motorcycles, causing explosions that shook the area.

“Sources described a series of explosions echoing through the town, with thick plumes of smoke rising from the impact zones,” Makama reported.

The operation inflicted heavy casualties on ISWAP, with estimates indicating that dozens of terrorists may have been neutralized. The destruction of logistics assets has further weakened the group’s operational capabilities.

“The air strikes in Malam Fatori were not just a standalone effort; they were part of a broader strategy in Operation Hadin Kai aimed at restoring security in northeastern Nigeria,” Makama explained.

The airstrikes form a critical part of Operation Hadin Kai’s overarching strategy to combat insurgency in the region. The aerial assaults are being complemented by ground forces, who continue to engage ISWAP militants across key locations in the northeast.

Makama emphasized the importance of air superiority in the ongoing operations, noting its decisive role in degrading terrorist capabilities and restoring security.

The latest success in Malam Fatori highlights the sustained efforts of Nigeria’s military to eliminate insurgent threats and stabilize the region, ensuring safety for communities affected by years of insurgency.
