Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the military and vigilante groups, have arrested two suspected armed robbers and cattle rustlers involved in an attack on a farm in Akwanga.
According to DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa Command, the incident occurred on Friday when the suspects attacked the farm, injured the security guard with a machete, and rustled 34 cows.
Upon receiving the report, security operatives swiftly mobilized to the scene, rescued the injured guard, and launched a manhunt for the suspects. Hours later, the suspects were intercepted in Akun Forest, Nasarawa Eggon, where a gun duel ensued. The confrontation resulted in the arrest of the injured suspects and the recovery of the rustled cows.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, commended the coordinated efforts of the security operatives and the vigilante group, urging them to maintain the momentum in combating crime. He also expressed appreciation for the vigilante’s support, which was instrumental in achieving the successful operation.
