National Assembly condemns 2025 Budget for Information Ministry, kicks against poor funding

The National Assembly has suspended the 2025 budget for the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, citing insufficient funding. This was disclosed by Senator Kenneth Eze, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, during the ministry’s budget defense on Tuesday.

In a widely circulated video, Senator Eze described the proposed budget as a national embarrassment, emphasizing that it failed to meet the needs of such a critical ministry. He expressed disappointment at the allocation, stating it was inadequate for the ministry’s role in shaping national awareness.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan supported the decision, agreeing that the proposed funding was insufficient. She called for a review and affirmed the committee’s decision to summon the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, for further discussions.
