The Nigerian Navy has launched a manhunt for individuals behind an illegal crude oil storage site discovered in the Billie axis of Rivers State.
In a statement shared on its verified Facebook page on Sunday, the Navy revealed that personnel from Operation DELTA SANITY uncovered the illegal facility on December 5, 2024.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER discovered the site, which contained an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil. The operators of the site fled the scene and are currently being pursued by Navy operatives.
The statement read, “Operation DELTA SANITY: On Thursday, 5 December 2024, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER discovered an illegal storage site laden with an unspecified amount of stolen crude oil around the Billie axis, Rivers State. Personnel of NNS PATHFINDER are currently on the trail of the operators of the facility.”
The Navy reaffirmed its commitment to combating oil theft and illegal activities within the Niger Delta region, urging continued public cooperation to aid its efforts.
