Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have intensified their offensive against banditry in the North West, successfully neutralizing notorious bandit leaders in Katsina and Zamfara states.
In Katsina State, a raid in Mai Sheka village, Kunchin Kalgo town, led to the elimination of an unconfirmed number of terrorists, including a prominent kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli. According to counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama, Ma’oli was infamous for imposing levies and orchestrating criminal activities in areas such as Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, Unguwar Dan Halima, Unguwar Dan Mairo, and Katangan Yamma.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops of Counter Terrorism Team 7 (CT 7) encountered armed bandits during a patrol along the Bilbis-Danjigba axis in Tsafe Local Government Area on December 25. During the clash, the troops neutralized Kachalla Muchelli, a notorious bandit commander and leader of the Kuchi Kalgo camp.
Military sources confirmed that these operations are part of broader efforts to eradicate banditry and terrorism in the region. The offensives underscore the commitment of Nigerian troops to restoring peace and stability in the affected areas.
