The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Enugu State Council, has commended Comrade Chris Isiguzo, the immediate past National President of the union, for his outstanding service during his two consecutive tenures.
This recognition followed the successful conclusion of the NUJ triennial delegates conference held last week in Owerri, the capital of Imo State.
In a statement signed by various stakeholders, they expressed pride in Comrade Isiguzo’s accomplishments, acknowledging his efforts in elevating journalism as a respected profession in Nigeria. They emphasized their admiration for his performance, describing it as a source of pride for the union. Signatories to the statement included notable members such as Comrade Amaka Agbo, National Vice President Zone C NAWOJ; Comrade Lawrence Njoku, Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel; and Comrade Obinna Ogbuka, Chairman FRCN Enugu Chapel, among others.
The stakeholders highlighted his exemplary leadership and dedication to the growth of the union, noting that he concluded his tenure without any negative reports. They commended his ability to inspire through his commitment and applauded his successful organization of a free and fair election during the 8th Triennial National Delegates Conference in Owerri.
This smooth transition of power to his successor, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya Abdullahi, was described as a testament to his selflessness and loyalty to the union.
They further noted that Comrade Isiguzo had consistently demonstrated exemplary leadership, even during his time as National Vice President Zone C (South East). The outcome of the Owerri conference, they said, reflected the positive legacy he left behind, with the seamless election serving as a vote of confidence in his leadership.
The stakeholders also extended warm congratulations to the new National President, Comrade Yahaya Abdullahi, wishing him a successful tenure. They concluded by wishing him continued success and happiness in his new role.
