Former Social Democratic Party (SDP) chieftain, Kenneth Kaigama, has criticized the opposition parties in Taraba State, describing them as “docile” and ineffective.
Kaigama, who recently defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), expressed his dissatisfaction with the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other opposition parties during a weekend announcement.
“The APC, despite being the ruling party at the federal level, has failed to provide meaningful opposition in Taraba. Since their loss in the last election, they have become irrelevant and plagued by leadership crises,” Kaigama stated.
He emphasized the importance of a vibrant opposition to foster good governance, condemning the APC’s inability to constructively engage with the PDP-led government in the state.
Kaigama highlighted his decision to rejoin the PDP as a commitment to contributing to Taraba’s development. “My return to the PDP is not just about politics; it is about aligning with a party that prioritizes development. I want to assist the governor in bringing progress to the state rather than staying with opposition politicians who only fight for power during elections,” he said.
The former SDP leader further disclosed his grassroots efforts to strengthen the PDP, including the donation of an office to the PDP youth vanguard in his ward.
“This is just the beginning. My return to the PDP will help restore faith in the party and bring me closer to the people,” Kaigama added, urging opposition parties to reorganize and adopt a constructive approach to politics in the state.
