Two confirmed dead in Borno bomb explosion

An explosion caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has claimed the lives of two individuals in a 200-unit housing estate under construction in Dalwa, Borno State.

According to Channels Television, the tragic incident occurred around 1:00 pm on Wednesday, coinciding with a housing estate commissioning ceremony in Maiduguri attended by the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, and his Yobe State counterpart, Mai Mala Buni.

A local source revealed that a similar explosion had taken place on Tuesday, though no details were provided about that event.

Dalwa, situated approximately 175 kilometers from Maiduguri, has previously been ravaged and displaced by Boko Haram terrorists, underscoring the ongoing security challenges in the region.

Efforts to address insecurity in Borno and its neighboring states continue, but incidents like this highlight the persistent risks faced by communities in the area.
