Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized the leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, following her recent remarks about Nigeria.
In a post on his X handle on Thursday, Fani-Kayode dismissed Badenoch’s stance, stating, “No, you are not [needed], and neither do we need or want you to. You are, however, doing PR for the House Ni**ers Association and the racist, fascist scum that constitutes the far-right wing of your adopted country.
Do us a favour by shutting your foul mouth, dropping ‘Kemi’ as your name, and changing it to ‘Aunty Jemimah’ instead.”
Fani-Kayode’s reaction follows Badenoch’s response to Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, who criticized her earlier comments about Nigeria. Badenoch had described her upbringing in Nigeria as marred by fear and insecurity in a country grappling with corruption.
In response, Shettima, speaking at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue at the State House in Abuja on Monday, accused Badenoch of denigrating Nigeria and suggested she remove the “Kemi” from her name if she was not proud of her roots. Badenoch, however, defended her position, stating she was not engaged in public relations for Nigeria and stood by her previous remarks.
The exchange has sparked significant reactions, with some interpreting Badenoch’s comments as an honest critique of Nigeria’s challenges, while others view them as disrespectful to her country of origin.
