Yahaya Bello Threatens Legal Action Over Alleged Fake Report Linking Him to Comments Against Tinubu

Former Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has threatened to take legal action against individuals behind an online media platform, Daily Excessive, over what he described as a fabricated report aimed at damaging his relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The report in question claimed that Bello, while in court, had vowe#d to reveal how President Tinubu became Nigeria’s leader. The allegations have been categorically denied in a statement signed by Michael Ohiare, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office, who called the publication misleading and the work of “unintelligent detractors.”

“Our attention has been drawn to a mischievous and senseless report published by a mushroom blog called Daily Excessive, which attributed fake quotes to our principal, the immediate-past Governor of Kogi State,” Ohiare stated.

He dismissed the report as absurd, emphasizing that no informed Nigerian would take such allegations seriously. “Court records are public documents, and anyone following the proceedings knows that no trial has commenced in any of the cases involving the former governor. He has only taken his plea in court,” Ohiare clarified.

The statement further accused political adversaries of orchestrating the fake news to create a rift between Bello and Tinubu, describing the attempt as a failed effort in a “bring-him-down-at-all-costs” agenda.

Ohiare also highlighted that Yahaya Bello maintains deep respect for President Tinubu and the office of the presidency, stating that the former governor would never make such remarks. “Alhaji Yahaya Bello will continue to support the President and the APC despite these malicious attempts to tarnish his image,” he added.

The statement concluded by confirming that security agencies have been alerted to investigate and identify the perpetrators behind the website that circulated the report. “We will ensure that those responsible for this fake news face legal consequences,” Ohiare affirmed.
