Zinedine Zidane has reportedly decided against returning to Real Madrid for a third stint, despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Carlo Ancelotti’s future, METROBLOG reports.
Ancelotti is facing mounting pressure at the Bernabeu following his fifth defeat of the season.
Currently, Real Madrid sits second in LaLiga, trailing rivals Barcelona by four points, and 24th in the Champions League, the lowest position from which a team can still qualify for the knockout rounds.
Raul, Santiago Solari, and Zidane are said to be the leading candidates to replace Ancelotti if the club decides to part ways with the Italian.
While Real Madrid is keen on appointing Xabi Alonso in 2025, they may consider an interim manager in the meantime. However, Zidane has declined the opportunity, preferring not to take on a contract that would only last until the end of the season.
Zidane remains one of Real Madrid’s most successful managers, having won the Champions League three times and LaLiga twice during his previous tenure.
