Palliative: Kano Anti-Corruption Agency Seals Warehouse, recovers ing Diverted Palliatives Worth ₦1 Billion

The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Agency has sealed a warehouse stocked with rice valued at over ₦1 billion, allegedly diverted from public palliative supplies. The operation, led by the agency’s Executive Chairman, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, took place on Tuesday at a facility along Ring Road in Nasarawa Local Government Area.

The seized rice bags bore images of President Bola Tinubu and the label “Ramadan Kareem,” indicating they were intended for distribution during the previous year’s Ramadan fast. Instead, the items were discovered being re-bagged under different brands for sale in local markets.

Rimin-Gado condemned the act, calling it a shocking example of corruption and pledging to hold the perpetrators accountable. He emphasized that the diverted supplies were meant to alleviate the hardships faced by the public, making their misuse particularly egregious.

During the raid, officials recovered a re-bagging machine used to repackage the rice and arrested one suspect connected to the diversion. Rimin-Gado confirmed that the agency was operating under a search warrant, arrest warrant, and court order as part of its effort to recover stolen public resources.

The agency chairman assured citizens of a thorough investigation to identify all parties involved and enforce justice. He stressed the importance of preventing such misconduct from recurring, vowing to follow all legal procedures to ensure accountability.
