Police capture a medical radiographer, labeled him a yahoo boy, and demanded ₦551,500.
A 29-year-old medical radiographer in Enugu was allegedly abducted by police officers, falsely labeled as a yahoo boy, and extorted of N551,500, according to a viral report on social media.
The disturbing claims surfaced on X (formerly Twitter) through a user identified as @Mazi_OJD, who shared the victim’s brother’s account. According to the report, the victim was forcefully picked up by officers while stopping at a mechanic shop to fix his tyre.
Without evidence, the officers allegedly accused him of internet fraud, took him to a police station, and subjected him to torture and coercion to write incriminating statements against himself.
Further allegations suggest that the officers then took the victim to a POS agent, where they forced him to withdraw N551,500, which was collected as a bribe before his release.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage online, with social media users condemning the alleged abuse of power and calling for justice. Many have urged the Enugu State Police Command and the Nigerian Police Force to investigate and hold the officers accountable.
As of now, the Enugu State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
