Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday, rejected claims that he did not support President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election. El-Rufai said he has moved on from these allegations.
Tinubu, supported by the All Progressives Congress (APC), won the election against opposition candidates Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party.
El-Rufai, a prominent figure in the APC, has been part of many political discussions. He recently emphasized that his views on governance would remain the same, no matter his position in the new administration.
On Sunday, an X user named Yusuf Tukur claimed that Tinubu and his team had sought El-Rufai’s support before the election but later accused him of not backing the president. Tukur said that when Tinubu’s team was looking for El-Rufai’s support, they praised him, but later, they accused him of not supporting the president.
In response, El-Rufai posted on X that he had no personal expectations from his political actions. He said the situation was just part of life and human nature, and he had already moved on. He added that those who made the accusations would not be at peace with their conscience.
El-Rufai also clarified his views on politics, stating that he doesn’t pretend, unlike some politicians, and that he’s not interested in acting like a Nollywood actor in government.
