Fct Police Arrest 245 Suspects In Crackdown On Criminal Hideouts

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 245 suspects in a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted between February 6 and February 23, 2025.

The operations targeted criminal hideouts, black spots, and abandoned buildings across multiple locations in the FCT, including Kurudu, Dutse Alhaji, Kubwa, Wuye, Galadimawa, Iddo, Kuje, Apo, Zuba, Asokoro, Karshi, Karu, and Byazhin.

Suspects Undergo Screening & Profiling

In a statement on Friday, FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that the suspects are undergoing thorough screening and profiling, with those found culpable set to face prosecution.

“In a robust effort to enhance security across the Federal Capital Territory, the FCT Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property.
Between February 6 and February 23, 2025, the Command conducted a series of intelligence-led raid operations targeting criminal hideouts, black spots, and abandoned buildings throughout the territory.
As a result, a total of 245 suspects were apprehended. These individuals are currently undergoing thorough profiling and screening. Those found culpable will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.”

Illicit Substances & Weapons Recovered

During the operations, police recovered various weapons and illicit substances, including:

  • Dried leaves suspected to be marijuana
  • Three axes and three machetes commonly used in violent crimes
  • Six small tubes of glue and five handmade bongs linked to substance abuse
  • Eight pairs of scissors and five ID cards
  • Several small plastic containers and various pills suspected to be illicit drugs

Increased Surveillance On Abandoned Buildings

The FCT Police Command has heightened surveillance on abandoned buildings and isolated areas identified as potential criminal hideouts.

“Intelligence reports indicate that some of these structures are being misused for illicit activities, including drug abuse and organized crime.”

The FCT Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and urged residents to report suspicious activities through official police channels.
