Media activist Verydarkman faces backlash over N180 million naira hack scandal

Popular online personality, VeryDarkMan, has claimed that ₦180 million was allegedly stolen from his NGO’s website, leaving only ₦20 million remaining in the account.

In a video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his distress over the situation, stating, “For the past few days, I’ve not been myself. Somebody hacked into the NGO website, and I don’t know how they did it, but ₦180 million is missing.” The announcement comes shortly after the recent launch of his NGO, which aims to improve Nigeria’s education sector.

The initiative garnered significant support, with hundreds of Nigerians, including celebrities, contributing generously and raising ₦200 million in donations after VeryDarkMan shared his account details.

However, the alleged hack has drawn widespread skepticism on social media. Many users have questioned the credibility of his claim, accusing him of dishonesty and demanding greater transparency regarding the funds. The incident has sparked heated debates, with some calling for accountability and a thorough investigation.

Social media reactions have been mixed. While some users doubted the legitimacy of the situation, others urged caution and withheld judgment. Comments included claims that the situation could be a publicity stunt, as well as criticisms of the claim that money was “left on a website.”

The controversy has raised concerns about fund management and accountability in high-profile charity initiatives, leaving many demanding a clearer explanation and further action to restore trust.
