Senator Natasha Accuses Akpabio of Harassment, Senate President Denies Allegation

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment. She claims Akpabio blocked her motions in the Senate after she rejected his alleged advances.

Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Akpoti-Uduaghan detailed an incident from December 8, 2023, when she and her husband attended a gathering at Akpabio’s residence in Uyo. She alleged that during the visit, Akpabio held her hand and suggested they spend “quality time” together.

She further claimed that when she tried to raise a motion about corruption at Ajaokuta Steel Company, Akpabio repeatedly prevented it from being heard. According to her, when she confronted him, he responded, “You can enjoy a whole lot if you take care of me and make me happy.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan also alleged that she was later moved to a different seat in the Senate chamber without explanation, an act she believed was a setup against her.

In response, Akpabio’s media consultant, Kenny Okulogbo, dismissed the allegations, calling them “tissues of lies.” He claimed the senator was only upset because she had been removed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local Content. He added that Akpabio would officially respond soon.
