Anthony Chidi was detained by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control at Mile 3 Market in Diobu, Port Harcourt, for creating fake alcoholic drinks under severely unhygienic conditions.

This was confirmed in a message posted on X (previously Twitter) on Wednesday.

According to the authorities, Chidi was apprehended inside a filthy business where he was washing discarded bottles of various alcoholic brands and restocking them with unhealthy beverages for resale.

During the raid, NAFDAC authorities seized unclean empty bottles, ethanol, bottle caps, and packaging materials that had been used in the unlawful business.

During interrogation, Chidi admitted to running the illegal enterprise for nearly a year.

The statement continued: “NAFDAC has apprehended Anthony Chidi at Mile 3 Market, Diobu, Port Harcourt, for producing counterfeit alcoholic beverages in unsanitary conditions.”

He was captured inside a dirty business washing discarded bottles of various alcoholic brands and refilling them with unwholesome drinks for resale.

During the raid, officials found unclean empty bottles, ethanol, bottle caps, and packaging supplies.

Chidi admitting to running the illegal company for approximately a year, obtaining labels from Aba and buying discarded bottles.

“NAFDAC evacuated the shop, confiscating all items found on site for further investigation.”
