Mob Lynches Suspected Cultists in Jos After Daylight Robbery Attempt

Two suspected cultists, who allegedly attempted a robbery in broad daylight on Friday morning, have been lynched and set on fire by an angry mob in the Jenta Adamu community of Jos North Local Government Area in Plateau State.

The Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, confirmed the incident, stating that the police were alerted via a distress call from a concerned local at approximately 9:20 AM. The report indicated that the suspects had attempted to rob residents when the mob intervened.

In response, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police ordered immediate action, sending officers and detectives to investigate the situation. Upon their arrival, they found that the mob had already chased the suspects, overwhelmed them, and set them ablaze.

The police, in collaboration with local authorities, later removed the charred bodies and transferred them to the hospital morgue for identification.

During the investigation, two locally-made pistols believed to belong to the suspected robbers were recovered from the scene.

While condemning the rise in robbery and cultism, the police also criticized the mob’s actions, urging that suspects should be handed over to law enforcement authorities rather than subjected to jungle justice.
